Trillions is the result of over 20 years of research, thinking, observation, and countless collaborations with colleagues and clients. It’s a lot to fit in just one book, and some of the topics we cover could easily fill dedicated books of their own. While Trillions will give you a comprehensive overview of the story, we also wanted to give our readers the opportunity to dig a little deeper into topics of particular interest to them.
To that end, we have developed a catalog of “Extras”: videos, stories, interactive experiences, and games that we hope will communicate some of the more interesting or subtle concepts in ways that a book just can’t do (it is, after all, made of paper, a medium with certain technical constraints).
Information: An introduction to what information really means…which might be different than what you always thought.
Architecture: A definition of architecture that has nothing to do with buildings.
Containerization: The box that flattened the world, and another one that could connect it.
Shepard Tones: An auditory illusion used to explain a phenomenon known as a “strange loop.”
The Game of Life: A little game that shows how simple rules can have far-reaching consequences.
Visage: An interactive demonstration that explains the concept of polymorphism.
